Facelifting (Rhytidectomy) Surgery in Turkey
Deep Plane Facelifting
Deep Plane Facelift (DPFL) is a surgical procedure used for facial rejuvenation. It is an advancement of traditional facelifts and is based on tightening the deep tissue under the skin of the face.
Unlike traditional facelifts that tighten subcutaneous tissue, DPFL goes deeper and treats muscular and connective tissue. This allows for better tightening and rejuvenation of the face, particularly in areas such as the cheeks and neck.
Facelift Procedure:
The procedure itself lasts two to three hours, depending on the extent, and is performed under general anesthesia. The incision is made behind the ears. According to current medical standards, the focus of the treating surgeon is not solely on tightening the upper layer of skin, but rather on the deeper structures that consist of muscle, connective tissue, and fat. This so-called SMAS is released and can now be stretched in various directions, thereby tightening it. Subsequently, the overlying skin layer is smoothed out. After the excess skin created by tightening is removed, the skin edges are finally sutured as tension-free as possible.
At the end of the operation, a light compression bandage and dressing are applied.
After Facelift Surgery:
Swelling can occur in the face, neck, and even eyelids. To minimize this, a compression bandage and a face-neck corset are applied. In this way, both bleeding is prevented and swelling is reduced. After 1-2 days, the bandage is removed, and the face mask or corset is worn for another week.
The drains placed after the operation are removed within 24 hours, and the stitches heal on their own within 7 days. The stitches do not need to be removed.
When the early part of the recovery is completed in 7 days, the person can return to work and participate in social activities after at least 10 days.
The scars created by a facelift extend from the front to the back of the ears, and these scars fade over time and become less visible. The tension, numbness, and tingling sensation in the face and neck that occur after the operation will disappear on their own within a few weeks. The stiffness caused by the operation will also improve within 3 months.
