Hair Transplantation in Turkey
Hair loss can often be a psychological burden. If all other treatment methods do not lead to the desired results, hair transplantation is often the last resort. At the same time, it is the most effective method against hair loss. Here you will find everything you need to know about methods, procedures, and costs of a hair transplant.
Hair loss is often caused by the hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT), to which hair follicles are sensitive. In men, this form of hair loss usually begins with a receding hairline, and in the end, only a hair wreath (tonsure) remains. Androgenetic alopecia also occurs in women, but instead of baldness, the hair is simply thinned. In addition, circular hair loss, inflammation, scalp injuries, or illness can also cause irreversible hair loss.
If shampoos and other remedies have no effect and medications only have limited effects, hair transplantation can help.
Method of hair transplantation – Sapphire FUE technique
Various techniques and procedures have been developed and refined over the last few years for hair transplantation. In addition to differences in technique, the duration and healing process vary depending on the method. It is important to choose a reputable hair clinic that places the highest value on naturalness.
The most modern method, which is also used at our clinic in Istanbul, is called the FUE technique (follicular unit extraction).
This method is gentler on the scalp, and in addition to head hair, other body hair can also be transplanted.
Up to 6,000 grafts can be implanted in one session.
The scalp heals completely without visible scarring, and the hair falls out naturally after a few months, provided that the extraction was done evenly and cleanly. This is a hallmark of true expertise, as demonstrated by our team.
After the hair is extracted, the doctor opens the recipient channels. Tiny incisions are made in the bald areas according to the natural direction of hair growth. This creates the most natural alignment of hair canals possible.
Procedure of HAIR TRANSPLANTATION:
A hair transplant can be divided into three phases, namely before, during, and after the operation. The process is supervised from the initial consultation to the completion of the healing process. We accompany you from the beginning. The procedure itself, including the medical consultation and post-treatment, takes place within three days during a stay in Istanbul.
Before the operation, a preliminary examination of the operation area is conducted. Hair structure and color are analyzed and taken into consideration for the operation plan. An interview regarding eligibility for the operation is also conducted during this consultation.
In addition, there is an opportunity to discuss personal wishes and expectations. At the same time, it is clarified what results can be achieved and which cannot.
Procedure:
The procedure itself is carried out with local anesthesia, so there is no pain during the operation.
A hair transplant should always be performed by a team of trained surgical specialists and medical professionals.
For an FUE hair transplant, a duration of 6-9 hours should be expected.
What to consider before the procedure (e.g. no caffeine on the day of the procedure) will be explained in the preceding consultation.
After the treatment:
As part of the post-treatment care, the scalp is washed daily with a mild pH-neutral shampoo. Taking pain medication and antibiotics is also recommended. Further instructions for a speedy recovery will be provided by the treating physician, such as avoiding sun exposure during the first few weeks.
In the initial period after the procedure, the scalp around the transplanted follicles may develop small crusts. Redness, swelling, and irritation are also common but typically subside quickly. The healing process is typically completed after about 10 days.
Due to acute nutrient and oxygen deficiency, the transplanted hairs may fall out within the first few weeks. However, there is no cause for concern as they will begin to grow again shortly thereafter. The graft survival rate is typically around 95%. Moreover, the roots of the new hair are insensitive to DHT, so a permanent outcome can be expected.
Our hair transplantation expert, Tugrul Sahingöz, will work with you to develop a long-term treatment plan before the procedure. This is crucial to ensure that your hair grows naturally and evenly. Possible future hair loss will also be discussed again during this process.
Success of Hair Transplantation:
A hair transplant is considered a low-risk and low-complication procedure. Possible complications include redness, swelling, and temporary numbness. However, the results speak for themselves. 95% of the hair follicles grow back, even if they fell out initially.
After up to five months, the hair begins to regrow, and about a year after the procedure, the growth stabilizes enough that the hair can be cut, styled, and even dyed normally.
